University of Bristol branch secretary wins UNISON’s organising award

University of Bristol increased their membership by 44% in 2022.

Rebecca Staatz, Branch Secretary of University of Bristol UNISON branch, has been named Organising Rep of the Year at our Get Active awards ceremony. 

Last year, under Rebecca’s leadership, University of Bristol increased their membership by 44%, one of the highest increases in the South West region.

During challenging strike actions in both 2022 and 2023, Rebecca’s effective communication skills and thoroughness played a vital role. She ensured that workers’ concerns and demands were clearly conveyed to management and other unions, fostering unity and solidarity among UNISON members. 

This accolade acknowledges Rebecca’s exceptional dedication and remarkable achievements in workplace organising and recruitment, which have significantly impacted the branch and its members.
