We are thrilled to announce that Andy Taylor, a dedicated UNISON representative at Bristol Waste, has been recognised with this year’s Learning Initiative award.
Andy’s unwavering enthusiasm and commitment have been instrumental in keeping the learning agenda alive within his workplace.
Andy has persistently advocated for the inclusion of learning opportunities at Bristol Waste. One of his notable achievements was the implementation of a survey aimed at gathering input from members in his workplace about their desired learning areas.
Through the survey, four key areas of learning were identified: bike maintenance, mental health, money management, and digital skills. Andy has been collaborating with regional staff to explore avenues for delivering these learning opportunities.
Andy says that he often gets pushback from staff in his workplace saying that they’re ‘too old to learn’ but Andy’s mantra is ‘you’re never too old to learn!’
