UNISON staff working across the South West have joined together for a new fundraising bid in aid of the union’s charity, There for You.
The group will run the Cardiff Half Marathon on Sunday 1st October and hope to raise funds that will enable the charity to continue it’s work supporting UNISON members with the cost of living.
There for You offers grants for school uniform costs, electric and gas bills over winter as well as supporting members through Branch Welfare Officers when things get tough.

This will be the second half marathon in aid of the charity after the group raised over £4,000 running the Bath half marathon last year.
Tom Hemmings, UNISON area organiser coordinating the run, said:
“With inflation running at 12% and UNISON members pay falling in real terms over the past decade, we know that many people are being hit hard by the cost of living crisis.
“We’re incredibly proud of the work that the union’s charity, There for You, does from school uniform grants to the COVID response fund, our members need their help more that ever before.
“We can’t wait fot the challenge of the Cardiff Half Marathon and we’re hoping we can beat our previous fundraising total in the process. We would be grateful for any donations received and we’ll keep you updated on our progress as we get closer to October.”
