Second day of strike action at St Monica Trust

Some care staff stand to lose over £3,000 per year.

Care staff are taking part in a second day of action today, Saturday, over cuts to pay, sick pay and working hours.

Speaking on the picket line UNISON regional secretary, Joanne Kaye said:

“I feel like a broken record when I say that care workers are on the frontline of the coronavirus response, and yet they continue to be undervalued, underpaid and undermined by employers who should know better.

“For the care staff on the picket line today, it was the first time they’ve ever taken strike action. They’ve been left with no choice as their employer, St Monica Trust, takes aim at their pay and conditions of employment.

“One care worker here is set to lose over £3,000 per year from her pay packet. We cannot allow this to happen. St Monica must now engage in talks with UNISON.”
