UNIZONE line up announced for Tolpuddle

Learn BSL and try your hand at banner making with the Bristol Print Collective.

From sign language taster sessions to banner making workshops with the Bristol Print Collective, we’ve pulled out all the stops as we return to Tolpuddle Martyr’s Festival with our aptly named, UNIZONE.

The festival takes place from Friday 15th July until Sunday 17th July. The UNIZONE will be open on Saturday with the following line up.

Learn to sign

At 11am and 3pm, come and join a sign language taster session, learn to sign your name and learn the alphabet.

Disabled workers

At 12:30 you can tuck into your lunch and join our panel debate chaired by the chair of our disabled members committee where we take a look at the experiences of disabled members in the workplace and explore solutions.

Young workers

If you prefer to eat a little later, at 1pm we’ll be joined by 15 year old Albert Palmer. Albert, who has cerebral palsy, will be talking about their experiences so far and what they’d like to see when they start in the world of work. Albert is also hoping to swim for Team GB at the next Paralympics.

The shouting mute

From 2pm Dave Young aka The Shouting Mute is a poet and performer who aims to show that the arts belong to us all. Dave’s creative approach strives to raise the expectations of the capabilities of disabled people and those marginalised by society.

This is going to hurt

To close the day, at 4pm we’ll be joined by speakers from the British Medical Association for ‘This is going to hurt’ a panel discussion on the ups and downs of life in health and social care.

Throughout Saturday you’ll also be able to try your hand at banner making with the brilliant Bristol Print Collective.

We look forward to seeing you all in the sloping fields of Tolpuddle once more.
