RMT union general secretary, Mick Lynch, sent a video message of support for St Monica Trust care staff who are taking strike action this week.
Mick, who has spearheaded the recent RMT strike action, said “these issues we’re facing of fire and rehire, low pay, stripping our terms and conditions and an aggressive employer are common to many workers in Britain at the moment.”
Encouraging others to join the picket Mick went on to say “it’s vitally important that we win this dispute and we put fire and rehire behind us.”

UNISON regional secretary Joanne Kaye said:
”None of these care staff have ever taken this form of action before, but with reductions to pay, reductions to sick pay and reductions to the working hours they were left with no alternative.
”We’d like to thank Mick Lynch for showing such support and solidarity for our incredible members taking strike action this week.
“It’s vital that we stand together as trade unions against these attacks on pay, terms and conditions and workers rights.”
