Young Members Forum – Motion Writing & Forum Meeting

A day to get young members together. We will start the day with a motion writing workshop. This will prepare us to draft motions for our Young Member Conference 2024. In the afternoon we will also hold an in person forum meeting ( agenda to follow)

This course is designed to give all in UNISON the knowledge, confidence and skills required to write and move effective motions. A ‘motion’ is a trade union way of asking for something. So this is where we look at what the regional south west forum members want to “ask” the national Young members forum to do.

The course will help attendees to:

• Understand how an effective motion is constructed
• Understand UNISON’s rules on motions and UNISON’s structures
• Practice writing motions that effectively deliver on their contents
• Develop the confidence to move motions in different contexts – from branch meetings to national conferences

Saturday 22nd June 2024 – This event will be held in our UNISON Office in Bristol .

We have limited spaces due to capacity in our training room and will open a waiting list. Closing date for booking – Tuesday 11th June 12 noon
