On Wednesday 11th January, thousands of Ambulance workers took their second day of strike action in so many months.
Our regional secretary, Joanne Kaye, set herself a personal mission for the day – visit every picket line in Cornwall.
Penzance
The day started early in the most westerly town in Cornwall, Penzance. It was a strong start to the day with the first sighting of a dog on the picket line.

Redruth
Second stop of the day was Redruth Ambulance Station, a fantastic picket line. Lots of talk here about the lengthy queues outside Treliske while crews wait to hand over patients to A&E departments.
Newquay
A return to the coast for picket line number three, and the second dog on a picket line!

St Austell
From one coast to another for picket line number four. Spirits were high at a busy St Austell picket line, the much needed brazier was going strong.
Bodmin
Half an hour up the road to Bodmin for the next picket line, and a stop for an obligatory pasty along the way. This was the coldest picket line of the day!

Launceston
And finally, the sixth picket line of the day, completing the mission in Launceston where Joanne bumped in to one of the youngest supporters of the day of action.
