Following negotiations with RCHT and CFT management on the potential re-banding of Health Care Assistants from a band 2 to a band 3, UNISON is asking members to vote on the outcome of those talks.
The employer has produced a paper and FAQs that explains the details in full. UNISON’s summary of the key points is also available below. We would ask members to look at all the information before casting their vote.
If the majority of voting members choose to accept the new arrangements, UNISON will communicate this to the Trust who will then engage with each individual affected over a 4 week period. If the proposals are rejected, UNISON will seek to establish the concerns of members, and address these with your employer.
However, should your employer not be minded to make further amendments, we would need to seek the views of members on what action they would be prepared to take, up to and including industrial action (for example, a strike).
UNISON has looked at the proposals, and recognises they are the best that can be achieved by negotiation in the current financial situation.
Ballot Paper
We are only asking for your views on the overall proposals for moving Band 2 HCAs to Band 3 with the offer of a compensatory payment. If these proposals are accepted by trade union members, your employer will then begin a formal consultation period where you will be asked individually whether you wish to accept their offer.
Voting closed at noon on Friday 24th March 2023. Results will be confirmed shortly.
The ballot is open until noon on Friday 24th March 2023.
