We will not tolerate racist attacks on our members, whether at work or in their communities

The union movement stands united in opposing this violence, intimidation, and discrimination

Last night’s riots and violence in Plymouth City Centre mark a troubling resurgence of right-wing extremism, islamophobia, and racism in the South West. The politics of hate have been bolstered not only by fringe groups but also by some mainstream politicians who seek to exploit this violence to further their own agendas.

UNISON is committed to standing firm against these hateful ideologies and defending those who are targeted. We will not tolerate racist attacks on our members, whether at work or in their communities. Migrant workers, who contribute so significantly to our essential public services, deserve respect and gratitude, not prejudice and abuse.

The union movement stands united in opposing this violence, intimidation, and discrimination. By collaborating with other unions, we will strive to uphold unity and strength in the face of such threats.
