“Ice to see you!” UNISON treats care home staff to free ice cream in Dorset

(not even sorry about the pun)

Care workers in Dorset are being treated to free ice cream as a team of UNISON reps and organisers tour the area’s care homes.

Last week ice cream vans pulled up outside care homes in Poole, Southbourne, Christchurch and Blanford Forum.

On Thursday, it’s Sherborne’s turn as the ice cream van rolls up to care homes across the town.

UNISON regional organiser Janine Miller said: “It’s been great to get out to care homes across Dorset and hand out ice creams to hard working care staff.

“But it’s more than ice cream and flakes. We’re using the time to talk to care workers about their pay, working hours and staffing levels.  This is part of a wider campaign about improving working conditions in social care.”
