UNISON staff Step Up this September

UNISON members have been on the frontline throughout the pandemic, keeping the country running. Our staff are going to lace up their running shoes, get the bikes out the shed and clock up as many miles as we can to fundraise for you.

Over twenty members of regional staff have signed up for Step Up September, a month-long challenge raising money in aid of There for You, UNISON’s welfare charity.

From tomorrow, Tuesday, they’ll be walking, cycling or running for your donations, aiming to clock up more miles than any other region (there has to be some competition here, right?)

UNISON South West regional secretary Joanne Kaye said:

“I’m delighted so many of our staff have signed up to this challenge.

“Public service workers across the South West have been stepping up and running around to keep things going during the COVID-19 crisis — from the NHS to social care, education to police staff, our communities rely of these key workers and more.

“We rely on those services as much as anyone, so we’re stepping up and running, cycling and walking to help support members who might be facing uncertain futures and financial insecurity.

“There for You is a brilliant charity that has paid out £250,000 to members during this pandemic who have been struggling financially, as well as paying for hundreds of school uniforms for families that really need our help.”
