Blog: Thank you!

Thank you.

Those two words don’t quite seem enough right now, but thank you to all of our incredible members, thank you to the key workers keeping our public services going and thank you to those who are leaving their families to care for others.

I know the extraordinary effort and dedication UNISON members across the region are showing in responding to the unprecedented challenges from the COVID-19 pandemic. Our members, day in and day out, are delivering services in hospitals, schools, social care, police and justice, energy, voluntary services – and we are thanking them every day.

Our regional staff have moved to home working arrangements and we have had to adapt how we support our members. Within a few days, we launched our regional Help Hub, a service staffed 8am – 10pm Monday to Friday with emergency cover at weekends. Over 700 members have accessed the service so far. The Help Hub ensures that we’re able to support you to raise issues within your workplace as well as holding your employer and, more importantly, the government to account.

Nationally, we also have a series of help pages which provides guidance on your rights in the workplace, covering all sectors that UNISON represents.

Coronavirus: your rights at work

The last few weeks have been difficult, and I’m sure there are more difficult days ahead, but I am in awe of how our members have stepped up and worked incredibly hard during this crisis. Thank you for everything you’re doing and will continue to do. Please get in touch with our Help Hub if we can support you, in any way, through this.

We’re here for you, and always will be.
