We are pleased to advise that we have sent the next batch of cheques to those UNISON members eligible for a share of UNISON’s Employment Tribunal settlement.
As you will be aware UNISON secured this financial settlement after we settled an Employment Tribunal case against Somerset County Council. We secured this for the union as the council had failed to properly inform and consult with union officials about the impact on 1,100 employees transferring to Discovery on 1 April 2017.
Today cheques have been issued to those eligible members on UNISON subscription bands C and D earning between £5001 and £11,000. Shares have been calculated based on the UNISON subscription band of members in 2017 when the transfer took place and should equate to approximately three weeks salary for the majority of members.
We will continue to issue the remaining cheques to all eligible members over the next few weeks in UNISON subscription band order, with further updates as we do so.
Please be assured that all eligible members will receive a cheque in the next few weeks.
Thank you to those members who have been patient, please advise colleagues if they have not seen this update that we will continue to post updates as we undertake activity here on our website.
We have been working hard to identify all eligible members, apportion each an appropriate share and to issue these cheques as soon as possible, please bear with us so that we can conclude this as quickly as possible.
Thank you again, by working together in UNISON we can secure results like this with our members.
