UNISON 101: How can I make change?

NEW PILOT COURSE! 

Introduction to UNISON conferences, democracy and structures. A getting your voice heard pathway course. 

Ever wondered how UNISON works? As a large union your structures and the way we do things can seem daunting. This pilot workshop is an online crash course in how UNISON democracy works, what your conferences do, and how you can get more involved in your union – UNISON 

 This course will cover:  

  • How UNISONs branches and committees work – at local, regional and national level  
  • The importance of your conferences and how they work 
  • How decisions and new policy is made within your union.  
  • How to get more involved in your union – UNISON.  

Please note: This is not pre-conference training for delegates to conferences. This will be held as separate courses.

Who is this course for? It is especially aimed at new reps and activists but can act a refresher to more experienced reps  

-It is also aimed at Health and Safety Reps

If this pilot is successful, more courses will be offered throughout the year

For branches that pay the levy, the cost of the course is fully covered under the scheme. However, for those not participating in the levy scheme, there is a standard charge of £40 per attendee.
