Black History Month offers a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the shared history of Black people across the many shores of the world.
The theme of this year’s event is ‘Black Trade Unionism and the history and impact of music’.
As UNISON continues to lead the way in ensuring that we help to improve the working lives and defend the rights of our members, never forgetting those that have gone before us – we ask: “How has music shaped Britain’s society today?”
This year guest speakers will include the general secretary Dave Prentis, the president Gordon McKay, and Patrick Vernon MBE, Windrush campaigner. There will also be music from rap artist and songwriter Zara Sykes, and violinist Rhiannon, as well as presentations, stalls, refreshments and much more.
The event will take place from 11am – 4.45pm (registration is from 10am), followed by networking with drinks and music between 5–6pm.
Tickets are limited to 4 per person.
