Saturday 19 July

10.00 – 11.30 Migrant workers discussion panel

Lydia Kabute and Adekunle Akinola will discuss key issues affecting their working lives and the implications of the government’s Immigration White Paper. They will share how they built a strong UNISON migrant worker network and how they took their campaign to Parliament.

12.00 – 13.00 Mustafa Mamu (Performance)

Join us for this performance from Mustafa, the singer from Afrin City Syria. Mustafa will also share some personal testimony about their experience of coming to the UK.

13.15 – 14.15 Badly-informed bingo!

TUC tutor Jenn Forbes will facilitate a short workshop on combatting the rise of the far right
and the trade union response.

14.30 – 15.30 Trans ally workshop

Micheál Duffy from the UNISON SW LGBT+ members’ group will facilitate this shortened version of the UNISON trans ally
workshop: learn how you can support your trans colleagues.

16.00 – 17.00 Maddie Morris (Performance)

Maddie is an artist who describes themselves as a queer, neurodivergent, intersectional feminist; an artist who strives to make a difference in the world. Bold, insightful and refreshingly unique, they take traditional song in new directions to shine a light on contemporary issues, offering new perspectives about the world we live in today.

The UNISON marquee will be open throughout the weekend for you to drop in and find out more about us, our current campaigns, and grab some goodies (donations to our welfare charity “there for you” and the Gloucestershire phlebotomists’ strike fund are warmly encouraged in exchange).

Sunday 20 July

We will be joined on the march by the Bristol Sambistas samba band, so come and dance through the village with the UNISON bloc.
