Health & Safety for UNISON Health & Safety Reps – Bristol
Tuesdays 17, 24 June & 1, 8, 15 July
This online version of the Stage 1 Health and Safety Course is aimed at new Health and Safety Representatives.
The course will cover:
- The role of the H&S Rep
- The rights of the H&S rep and health and safety law
- Responsibilities of the employer
- Carrying out workplace inspections
- Understanding Risk Assessment
- Organising around health and safety issues
- Raising health and safety issue with the employer
Tuesdays 17, 24 June & 1, 8, 15 July | 5 days in person | 09:30-16:30 each day
Note:
- Each day will run from 09:30am until 4:30pm
- You will need to be able to attend all 5 days.
Note for anyone registering: To attend this course, you need to be a nominated as a new Health & Safety Representative and have the agreement of your UNISON branch. Please contact your branch and secure their agreement to attend before applying for this course.
Making your Branch aware that you are applying for this course will also help them to keep their records up to date and ensure you receive up to date information and support relevant to your role.
If you are in need of support to request time off from your work to attend, please talk to the branch to gain support. You may have a local policy to support with gaining reasonable time off to attend training from your employer.

Note for branches: There is a £50 charge per person for our Organising Stewards Training unless you have arranged to pay via our regional education levy scheme.
