Getting your voice heard in your union.  

The Key to Participating in UNISON Democracy – A Getting Your Voice Heard Pathway course  

This half day online workshop will show you how to write effective motions to submit to Branch Annual General Meetings, Regional Council and UNISON Conferences.   

It will cover:  

  • How UNISON’s democratic structures work 
  • What a UNISON motion is and how to write one 
  • The dos and don’ts of motion writing  
  • An opportunity to write a motions and get feedback  

Who is this course for?  All union reps, officers and activists

You should make your Branch aware that you are attending this course in order for them to keep their records up to date and ensure you receive up to date information relevant to your role.

If you are in need of support to request time off from your work to attend please talk to the branch to gain support.

You may have a local policy to support with gaining reasonable time off to attend training from your employer. There is also guidance via ACAS – Time off advice

Note for Branches

For branches that pay the levy, the cost of the course is fully covered under the scheme. However, for those not participating in the levy scheme, there is a standard charge of £10 per attendee.
