The Somerset Local Government and Community Branch is a busy branch of nearly 6000 members mainly in local government, schools and care providers.
This role will principally be supporting members outside the core council. The Somerset Health Branch has more than 2000 members, and the successful candidate will be supporting members outside of the main NHS trust.
We are looking for someone with excellent listening and problem-solving skills to provide advice and representation to UNISON members in the Somerset Local Government & Community Branch and the Somerset Health Branch.
This role would be ideally suited to an experienced union rep.
Skills/experience required:
- Advising, supporting and representing individuals and groups in formal procedures
- Dealing sensitively with people who may be upset or angry
- Effective oral and written communication
- Understanding of employment law basics
- Understanding and commitment to UNISON’s objectives
- Use of cloud-based software systems
