Lay members elect representatives for their section of public services – a “service group” in UNISON terms – at a local and national level
Each of our UNISON service groups has an elected committee to work on strategy and issues. The executive committee in the region also sends representatives to the national service group committee which deals with UK-wide discussions.

Representatives to the national health service group executive:
Trudie Martin – Trudie’s background was a Healthcare Assistant and she is now an Assistant Practitioner. She has worked in the NHS for over 30 years and has been an active UNISON steward since 2002. Trudie is Staff Side Chair of Northern Devon Healthcare Trust; she has held this post since 2011, and she is now Branch Secretary of UNISON North Devon Health Branch. Trudie also represents the region on the National Nursing and Midwifery Sector and is also the joint Regional Convenor.
Alison Evans – Ali has been the Branch Secretary of UNISON Torbay Health since October 2014 and is committed to supporting our members in the workplace. Ali fully understand the problems of the low paid workers whom she represents on the Service Group and will make sure that their voices are heard.
Mark Wareham – Mark is senior UNISON steward and Secretary of the join union Staff Side at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust. He is Secretary of Salisbury Health branch of UNISON and of the regional meeting of NHS Staff Sides. He has worked at Salisbury District Hospital for about 20 years, is an administrative and clerical worker and is currently seconded to union duties.
