Member learning

As the Covid-19 situation is developing rapidly, and in light of new government guidance, we have taken the decision to suspend all planned UNISON courses and member learning events in the South West Region until 31st May at the earliest. Our priority has to be the health and well-being of our members, activists and their colleagues and families, as well as our staff.

Our Education team will be contacting all activists and members who have applied for courses during this period directly and offering alternatives and dates later in the year. We will also keep Branches, Union Learning Reps and Branch Education co-ordinators informed of any changes to this.

If you have new activists booked onto a Stage 1 Organising Stewards course, we will be contacting these applicants to discuss a possible online alternative of the course run by the TUC.

We appreciate that this may cause issues with work schedules and rotas but given the situation we feel this is the only appropriate course of action.

If you’d like any further information or have any questions about our regional courses please email us at:

In the meantime UNISON staff are working hard to make sure the union’s business continues and our service to you is maintained. Information is changing rapidly and we are committed to keeping you informed.

You can find our latest guidance on our website.

However in these times if you are self isolating, socially distancing or are interested in our offer please take a look at our learning offer, don’t let this stop you learning!

Why not take a look at our learning guide and register your interest or request a call back to explore options for the future.
