We are pleased to advise that we are now in the process of sending out the final cheques to those UNISON members eligible for a share of UNISON’s Employment Tribunal settlement.
As you will be aware UNISON secured this financial settlement after we settled an Employment Tribunal case against Somerset County Council. We secured this for the union as the council had failed to properly inform and consult with union officials about the impact on 1,100 employees transferring to Discovery on 1 April 2017.
This week cheques are being issued to those eligible members on UNISON subscription band G earning between £17,001 and £20,000. Shares have been calculated based on the UNISON subscription band of members in 2017 when the transfer took place and should equate to approximately three weeks salary for the majority of members.
We have now issued over 80% of the cheques and will continue to issue the remaining cheques to all eligible members over the next few weeks. Please be assured that all eligible members will receive a cheque in the next few weeks.
We must now confirm that we will no longer able to accept any new queries asking about eligibility after 5pm on Monday 3rd February 2020. Anyone who has not before today contacted us will be advised that it is now too late to be included as shares of the settlement have been calculated and are being issued to all eligible members.
