One Team week in the South West

Without support staff ‘our NHS simply wouldn’t work’, says UNISON

UNISON is celebrating the valuable work of NHS support staff during its One Team week of action this week.

In hospitals across the region UNISON are celebrating and thanking staff with cakes, biscuits and UNISON goodies.

Earlier today UNISON organisers Beth Smith and Natalie Chadwick visited staff at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton and met staff on Beacon Ward as well as speaking to staff throughout the hospital.

“Without porters, cleaners, IT staff and medical secretaries, to name a few, our NHS simply wouldn’t work,” said UNISON South West regional secretary Joanne Kaye.

“Despite this, NHS support staff don’t always get the recognition that they deserve.

“That’s why, as part of our One Team campaign, we’re aiming to raise the profile of these essential staff, by encouraging members to talk to patients, the public and their colleagues about how their jobs are so vital to patient care”.
